Part of judging and tasting wine is being able to visually see the wine and be able to distinguished several factors. Below are some factors that you should be looking at when appearance is the factor that you are using to describe the wine.
To judge the wine glass should be filled 1/4 or 1/3 of the way in a wine glass.
Each of the glass should be viewed at 30% to 45% against a white background.
- What is the clarity of the wine? is it in absence of haze?
- Is the color shade or tinted? and what is the depth of the wine (or the intensity or amount of pigments the wine shows)
- What is the resistance level?
- What is the amount of bubble in the wine? This questions only truly apply to sparkling wine.
